Balloon-Filled Birthday Gift

Party, Styling, Text and Photos by Sara Schmutz of Confetti Sunshine

Have you ever left the store and forgotten to buy tissue paper for your gift bag? Those cute birthday bags always seem to make their way into your cart, but the tissue paper gets overlooked. We have come up with the perfect excuse to never buy tissue paper again. Fill your birthday gift bags with balloons instead!

Not only does a birthday gift filled with balloons make it more fun to put together, it also makes it a lot more fun to open. Amaze that special birthday girl or boy with balloons flying up at them out of their birthday gift. It’s a magical surprise.

Directions:

  1. Place your gift in the bag, just as you would if you were using tissue paper.
  2. Inflate a small assortment of 5-inch balloons and place them in the bag instead of tissue paper. Our bag was thin enough that the balloons actually stuck to the walls of the bag so we didn’t have to worry about them floating away. However, if your balloons are trying to float away, simply tape one side of the top of your bag closed, and place your balloons through the open end.
  3. Once your bag is filled with balloons, close the top and tape it shut.
  4. Have the birthday child open the bag by removing the tape. (Tip: This works best if the balloons are fresh. Five-inch balloons only float for 1-2 hours. So, keep the float time in mind when wrapping your gift.)
