Party, Styling, Text and Photos by Sara Schmutz of Confetti Sunshine

We love using balloons in unexpected ways. They are fun for every party. Since we are so anxious for spring to arrive, this garden tea party was the perfect way for us to create a little spring to enjoy before it actually arrived. That meant that we needed to create flowers.

When we first created this flower and balloon garland, we only planned on having it on the tea party table, but since it was so gorgeous, fun, and fast to put together, we ended up hanging it up on our cabinets and front door as well. It would also look gorgeous mixed with some honeycomb or some inflated balloons spread across the table.

Supplies:

  • 5-inch balloons
  • Hand air pump
  • Cardstock paper
  • Flower pattern printable
  • String (we used cotton twine)

Instructions:

  1. Inflate the 5-inch balloons with air using the hand pump. A trick to getting the balloons to be more rounded is: inflate the balloon completely, but then release the air until the balloon is round like a ball. (If you don’t inflate the balloon completely before releasing some of the air, you will end up with more of an oval shape balloon.)
  2. Cut the flowers out of cardstock using the flower pattern printable.
  3. Insert the end of the balloon into the slit in the middle of the flowers.
  4. Tie the string around the ends of the balloons, stringing each balloon flower after the next.

Repeat until your garland is as long as you need it to be.
